I feel like I spend a lot of time managing stuff...

particularly after having my son. I know everyone says babies come with so much stuff but have you ever met a toddler who loves cars? I don't think my brain can handle one more car in the house. But, I know I'm not inocent in all this....I love my stuff. And I love shopping.

Unforntunatly though I feel like I've gotten to the point of Max Capacity! I'm constantly in a state of trying to find more storage and add and create more room for more stuff. Our house is only so big and we have no plans on moving any time soon so I think it's time to pair down the things so I can spend more time doing the fun stuff and less time dealing with stuff.

I'm on a mission to eliminate the clutter, get rid of the excess and finally get the important stuff organized in a way that will stay organized. I think this is what I'm stuggling with the most! There is so much stuff that even when I do take the time to get a specific drawer or cupboard orgaized it doesn't stay that way for long....

The Clutter Catalyst

Being a stay at home mom to young to babies and toddlers is a weird experience that I don't think anyone can propertly explain. On one hand you have a lot of time since you're not leaving to work daily. But, none of your time is actually yours. Instead of answering to a bald old man with a superiority complex your new boss is a tiny human who can't even talk.

I was sad to have my time at home with my son come to an end but I'd be lying if I left out the part where I was exited for the next chapter in all our lives. I was finally going to have the time to do all the things that had been put off for years. I was so wrong its astonishing! Everyday my routine is - School Drop off, Gym, Shower, Work around the house. In theory this sounds great but in the two months since school has started my house is not cleaner and I haven't even worked on any projects...I just spend all my time putting away stuff, finding a home for this new thing and cleaning.

I've gotten to a kind of neutral homeostatic place but I want our home and our lives to get to the next level.

The next steps...

I think the best way to tackle this monumental task is to creat a plan that is easy to stick to and not overly overwhelming. Stay tuned for the actualy plan... but I think the clif notes would look something like starting with one room, one cupboard, one drawer and doing small amounts daily.

As I'm writting this, it's the end of October. I'd love to have this task complete by Christmas with a plan on what to do with all the new stuff my son will enevitably get from Santa. I feel like that's doable but we'll see when I get going on this.

Follow along. I'll share my exact plan and progress and tips along the way to help you apply this to your life. Take what works for you and leave the rest.

I did it.

Continuing yesterdays post...I went home after the gym, I spent some time cleaning the kitchen (it needed it), got some food (also necessary), and then went out to the garage to get some work done....

Where To Begin?

I feel like, as the author of this blog, that I should be the one providing the advice but I constantly find myself stuggling to figure out where ot begin the decluttering process in order to make it
