When life gives you lemons...it's time to renovate your bathroom.

Just kidding...when life gives you a leaky wax ring it's time to renovate your bathroom. Renovating the guest bath was not at all on my 2026 to-do list but here we are. A few days ago I noticed water on the bathroom floor and wondered to myself if the wax ring under the toilet was leaking. I got the part from the hardward store and decided I would tackle the project yesterday...I thought it was going to be a simple fix. Take off the toilet. Replace the existing ring. Reinstall the toilet. But as it turns out the universe had other plans.
It turns out the wax ring had been leaking for much longer that I had thought and the subfloor was starting to crumble. I took out a chunk of the tile and removed a small portion of the already decomposing floor to expose the wood underneath. I got out some fans to dry out the wood and I left it there for the day. I didn't love the floor but I also wasn't planning to replace it just yet.
So to the pinterest boards I went!
I had no current plan for this space so I found my boards labeled California Bathrooms not knowing what I was going to find. I created the board when we first moved to LA and had saved a few things to it for our large bathroom addition that will be coming later, mostly just layout options but I had one pin saved under the subcategory of "Leo's Bathroom and I must say....it's a good one. Like really good. Now that I've jogged my memory of this pin I NEED to make my bathroom look like this ASAP.

It's so good I want to cry. I mean I might actually cry if I can make this happen. But I need to make it happen so I'm going to prepare for the waterworks now.
I don't have any pictures on my phone of the current space. I'll snap some when I get home and post them asap. But just believe me when I tell you the space currently looks nothing like this. nothing.
This was not meant to be a blog about renovating but here we are so I think I'll share the process in real time and hope someone can find inspiration from it.
Maybe I'll share this all to IG and my dreams of becoming and influencer will come true... Let's just take this one step at a time though...
On top of making this space my dream bathroom, and I guess the dream bathroom for a teenage boy (this will be Leo's bathroom in the future) I'm making a big commitment to do it all in the best possible manner. and actually finish all the things. I initially renovated this bathroom when we first moved in almost 5 years ago and still haven't finished some of the small details....
It's time to get this started and see where we end up! Stay tuned.
