Brain Dump...

Ok...It's been a while and there has been so much going on. I feel like I just need a good brain dump to sort my thoughts so here goes.
I'm still working on the bathroom renovation. It's going slow but so good. Like amazingly well. I'm so happy with how it's coming out but like I said it's going slow.
Part of the reason why the bathroom is going so slow is because Leo was sick for what feels like ever. He had Covid and a secondary viral infection. Which I of course caught and got sick. Then my immune system was so overwhelmed I ended up getting shingles. Yeah, Shingles like the old people thing. Apparently 39.5 is not too young to get shingles...who knew.
We are all thankfully on the other side of that now so hopefully we can enjoy and illness free life for a few weeks. Today is Monday and I'm working this week on a household reset and a little spring cleaning this week. We've got vacation coming up and spring break so we've got a few weird weeks at the end of March.
I've always been one of those people who likes to "wait until life settles down" to get routines going and get started on projects. But, especally now as a parent, I don't think life is ever going to settle down. I think this is life. And I just need to figure out how to roll with the punches as see what life has to offer. Getting stuff done on weird weeks has always been a struggle so I'm going to try a few different things these next couple weeks and report back.
Recently I started following Dana K. White from A Slob Comes Clean Blog. I read her book, well I actually read all of her books but I started with Decluttering at the Speed of Life. And it just itched my brain in the right way. The methods in the book really clicked for me! I went on to read her other books and follow her podcast and through her I found Cas and Clutterbug, she's on YouTube. I love her style of organizing. She "diagnosis" your clutter/organization style then gives you tips and tricks based on your style and what will help you best.
I am what Cas would call a Cricket! Which means I'm highly organized and like a rather extreme organizing system in order to stay organized. My brain needs rules and bins and containers to stay organized. If a drawer is too big and there isn't any micro organization within the drawer it always turns into pit. A bottomless pit and I can never find anything.
As I was watching Cas I was thinking about my junk drawer, which I know sound crazy but hear me out... I have one small drawer in my kitchen that I have designated as my junk drawer. It was never actually just "junk" I always had a few designated things that belong in there but it was always messy and disorganized. Without any organization or "rules" about what went where the drawer would actually turn into a drawer of junk very quickly. One day I decided to hyper-organize the drawer. I put containers in the drawer. One spot for each item that belongs in the drawer. One for chipclips, one for lighters, one for scissors. And like magic the drawer stayed organized and only the stuff that belongs in the drawer ever went in the drawer. The organizers that are in the drawer are not perfect, there is a little waisted space so I'd like to improve it a tiny bit in the future but It is one million percent better than it was.
I just want to apply this Cricket theory to my entire house and have everything be organied for the rest of my life... that's how it works right?
